Day +1 (2nd Post)

Hi!
Nick has had a pretty rough day today with breathing issues and fever. He has been on oxygen since the transplant and has not been able to go off of it yet. He has also been running a fever since yesterday afternoon. He has had a very long day and looking forward to a peaceful night. They just turned his oxygen up so that his breathing is not so labored and that seems to have helped.
He is getting a little tired of feeling sick all the time and can't wait to get back to texting all of his friends and playing xbox online. (Thanks for letting us borrow the xbox Nick O!!!!). He promised the occupational therapist that he would play corn hole with her tomorrow so hopefully he will be up to the challenge. She beat him last time and we all know that Nick needs to correct that issue as soon as possible! LOL
Nick is a fighter and I am pretty sure that he will not allow this to keep him down too long! There is a sign that was made by a transplant survivor in the parents lounge here that reads "Slow and Steady Wins the Race"  We all know that Nick will win this race...
Love and Miss You All!!

Dear Nick and family; I am so thrilled to hear that the transplant went well! I hopw the breathing issue clears up soon, and that the fever breaks, and stays away. I will continue to pray for all of you, and for Nick's complete healing. The road may seem long, but slow and steady really does win the race. Hope you win the re-match in your corn hole game. Sounds like the nurses will have quite a competition on their hands very soon. Wishing you a peaceful evening, a good night's sleep, and a bright and beautiful tomorrow, filled with even more healing.

Yep, that's what you guys have done since August - slow and steady, one challenge and day at a time, just doing what you have to do. I have no doubt you will continue to do just that. Right now you're in the thick of it. You can do it! I don't know you, Nick, but knowing your mom and Laney a little, you have to probably know this already - girls are just better at some things, and corn hole is one of those things. I mean, you can try but... :) Praying your breathing difficulties and fever clear really soon, and that all of you can get some good restful sleep. Know that there are better days ahead.

Dan, Sandy, and Nick; I fell asleep with prayers for you on my lips, and awoke with thoughts of all of you in my mind. It's truly inspiring to read the daily updates, and hear how you are dealing with the challenges of this fight. I looked out my window this morning, and saw bright, beautiful sunshine streaming across a sparkling snow-covered yard. I can hear the singing of birds, and the barking of a neighbor's dog. All these things just serve to remind me that the renewal of Spring is just around the corner. I pray that the Lord fills your days ahead with that same renewal, and with complete success in this battle against lukemia. I am asking the Lord to send guardian angels to surround you, and to fill your day with His blessings. Hope Nick is able to enjoy the corn hole rematch today, and that soon he will be up and out of there! It's second down, and five yards to go....and not too far from a TOUCHDOWN! Hang in there, Nick! -Annette

Nick, I hope you get to feeling better soon. There are a few things I wanted to say to you. First of you may not know it but you are a true inspiration to the whole community that I am sure. Wanted to let you know I wear your bracelet and NEVER take it off. People often ask me what it means and in brief I tell them we have an ill son in our community and I wear it in his honor. I am sure you remember last year but I cant remember I think it was against team Canada but I could be wrong the entire Lake Varsity Football Family wore a white wristband in YOUR honor. I still have it and intend to wear it for every game in the upcoming season. I am hoping to see you there at all of our games next season in better health. I wanted to share with you and your family a quote from Jimmy Valvano you may or may not know of him I am sure your dad can explain his story but here it is “To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you're going to have something special.” Truly Nick may god bless you and your family. Stay strong. Coach Dillon and family!!
